Jan-Martin Lowendahl

Jan-Martin Lowendahl, Ph.D (Chemistry) is a research director in Gartner Research, where his research area is mainly higher-education governance, strategy and emerging trends. Especially how emerging trends impact institutional strategic planning and need clear governance for execution. The methodologies for strategic planning and frameworks for governance are especially focused on stakeholder communication. Specific technology coverage include Identity and Access Management, learning technologies as well as administrative and academic systems in higher education.

Based in Europe he has a special interest in European higher education issues such as the Bologna Process. Prior to joining Gartner, Dr. Lowendahl had 15 years of experience in higher education, including research and teaching and IT management. Most recently he served as CIO, where his main focus was infrastructure strategies and governance. Dr. Lowendahl has also worked collaboratively in the academic community and has served on several Boards.

Jan-Martin is a true believer in the importance and impact of the academic community on society as a whole. At Gartner he had the opportunity to help make information technology be the tool for personal productivity and organizational efficiency which he knows will produce academic excellence and value to our society.
