Securing Academic Cyberspace – Does anyone really care?
We are hearing more and more about the need to secure ourselves in cyberspace, but is this genuinely important or simply cries from the paranoid? And are universities significant enough to really have to address this issue in a serious way, or can academia get away with a token response when who, after all, would possibly launch a cyber-attack against an academic institution?
In this talk we will comment on these issues, as well as provide an update on recent government initiatives relating to academia and cyber security. We will also indicate recent directions in the focus of cyber security research that are driving academic activity in this area.
